Merry Christmas & Happy Holidays!

'Tis the season to be merry! Our event director and core volunteer team would like to wish all Root44 parkrunners and their families a special and festive Christmas. Let's continue to celebrate our parkrun community and the gift of running (or just simply moving).

Event Director: Torrin Theron-Visser

Volunteer team @ Christmas themed parkrun, Root44

A warm welcome to all visitors and first-timers to Root44 parkrun. The air was filled with joy and happiness at the Christmas themed parkrun and many dressed up with real Christmas spirit! Remember to take time to pause, reflect and embrace the simple pleasures.

Let's run into the feastive season with peace, love, kindness and generosity. Be safe and stay active this festive season! We hope for you to join us at Root44 on the 30th of December for the last parkrun of 2017!

Happy parkrunning :)

The Festive Season is Upon Us

Hello fellow parkrunners

Its that time of the year to dust off those Christmas decorations, play joyful tunes, fill the stockings and spread the love as the festive season is just around the corner. The Christmas parkrun at Root44 will be on Saturday the 23rd of December; all are welcome and encouraged to dress up in Christmas spirit. Get active with friends and family (dogs and prams included) and build up some calorie credits in preparation for Christmas lunch. Lets collaborate as a community in spreading love, kindness and the Christmas spirit on the move in nature.

Running into the summer and festive season

In light of giving, sharing and caring this Christmas, we encourage parkrunners to kindly donate pre-love tekkies and running kit to your fellow parkunning communities.

Week 2 of our pre-love tekkie and running kit drive

Thank you to all those kind souls for your generosity thus far. We have 4 weeks left of our drive and are still in need of kiddies sizes, socks and caps. We will be collecting pre-loved takkies and running kit at Root 44 parkrun, Wellington parkrun, Breede Valley parkrun, Somerset West parkrun, Paarl parkrun, Franschhoek parkrun, Malmesbury parkrun and Kayamandi parkrun. The collected kit will be shared amongst the parkruns and given out to parkrunners who are in need. Your support to your fellow parkrunning communities would be greatly appreciated. :)

Stay active, stay healthy and be kind to one another this festive season.

Happy Parkrunning :)

Happy parkrunning

We would like to share the fantastic success of the adapted course at Root44 parkrun. With the support of Audacia, the course adaptations as well as continuous maintenance have been implemented only to create a safer and better parkrunning experience.

Volunteer Co-ordinator, Minke van Zyl

We happily introduce to you our new Volunteer Co-ordinator, Minke van Zyl, who will now be in charge of the volunteer roster and appealing to all you parkrunners for help. Remember, parkrun cannot function without the help of volunteers so please be sure to sign up and keep parkrun a friendly and efficient tight knit community.

Beat the cold and embrace the winter weather by getting active whilst breathing in the frosty, fresh air at Root44 parkrun with whole family, including dogs and prams. Parkrun is an incredible initiative for sharing an active experience in a beautiful setting. Let's continue to be active and compassionate this winter.

Happy parkrunning :)
